Evening all, here is a couple of pictures of my new additions to the fleet.
The black kof 6001 is the latest version with sound.I started in G scale with the Wangerooe start set which came with a red verion of this loco which has since been chipped and is one of my favourites so this new one was a must have.It has a decent engine sound, couple of horns and a bell, thats about your lot.
The other one is the E10 that is now offered with MFX .I know this is a standard gauge machine (my others are ng) but it looks fine to me with a few ng bogie coaches behind it.As to the sound I am not too familiar with electric engine sounds but it bears more than a passing resemblance to a Dyson or even a Vax.20180127_141203.jpg 20180127_140813.jpg

The Kof diesel looks spanking in black - the E10 is rather nice as well :nod:

The Kof looks very similar to the Gmeinder diesels

You're bang on regarding Gmeinder, this black one is the SOEG version according to the LGB catalogue.

Nice locos.... the new black version of the KoF is very tempting, especially as I've now got over my hesitancy about MFX-equipped locos (having taken the plunge with my first one - the new VIk - before Christmas and found that they're not as tricky as I'd feared).... but I don't think I can really justify it as I already have the black factory-sound-and-DCC version that was done as a limited edition one a good few years back.

If anyone fancies the Kof I found it for sale at €386 (£339) at toy-tec which considering the lgb.com RRP is €500 (£438) and the best UK price I could find is £475 is a bit of a bargain. https://www.toy-tec.shop/produkt/lgb-23591/
I hope it is for real as I have not come across toy-tec before!

Not a supplier I've been aware of before either, but as you say, their prices do seem exceptionally good..... anyone on here have any experience of buying from them?

I'll soon find out, I took a punt and ordered one. Seems legit so far, paid with paypal and I have an account on their site. Shipping prices are pretty good too, €14.90 (£13) to ship to UK. But proof of pudding is if/when it arrives! :-)

That sounds pretty good all round, let us all know when it arrives!

I must be using a different Internet! :-)

Sometimes there are cached copies of web pages lingering but I have cleared browser cache and used two different browsers and I still get the price as €386.55 using the link in your posting. Weird.

At first I thought it was one of these sites that shows prices without VAT (sales tax to our non-EU friends) but I checked the Ts and Cs and it seems not. Then I thought perhaps they don't hold any stock and get it direct from the manufacturer when needed so there is a chance it is out of stock at LGB, but that's what most of the German online retailers do for new items AFAIK. Screen shot below is from an Microsoft Edge translation, hence "novelty" rather than "new". The RRP is wrong (if RRP is the price on LGB.com) which is perhaps why it is so cheap.

It certainly what I paid using paypal. Maybe I was lucky and got the last one.

I still hope this is legit and I may be about to get my fingers burned. But if it is legit then toy-tec is going to replace modell-bahn as my first port of call for new LGB items.

Anyone have any experience of this outfit?
Again VAT would seem to be included in my interpretation of the T&Cs

I've also used them for a number of HO purchases. Excellent service and normally quick shipping, fully tracked.

You also get bonus points on many purchases (seems like everything except Piko and Bemo) which can be used for future purchases.

Just checked my "account" at MSL and see I've accumulated 61 euros worth of bonus points.....

I am pleased to report the goods arrived this morning. Excellent service from toy-tec considering I didn't order it until Saturday night and it arrived Friday morning, and I think they had to get it from LGB. Although the site is only in German I got English language emails from them. Shipping was via DHL with full tracking and email / text notifications. Well packaged. So I think we can add toy-tec to the list of pukka web retailers.

A few pictures, and a video clip of the SOEG Kof running at speed step 1 over R1 points with no problem, on my indoor layout. As OP said the sound is okay but not many options, and to get brake squeal you have to go from speed step 14 to 0 pretty quickly. But that can be adjusted with CV settings. I am getting to like the Maerklin/Trix sound decoders, they are very flexible (configuration-wise!).
