New paint job on forney

Shawn

Hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing
Last week I got my Forney back from Accucraft (Steam chest was replaced). Since I finally learned how to take apart the Forney, I figured it was a good time to strip the boiler down and spray paint the entire boiler (rather then just brushing paint on when the engine was together). The boiler was sprayed with flat black and then air brushed model flex gloss black on the boiler and domes. I used Kevins technique using the powdered graphit rubed into the boiler and sealed with clear acryclic.
The next step was changing the cab. I have always liked the dark stained cab look on an engine and decided the forney would look great with one. I ordered a new Bronson and tate cab and stained the cab with red oak stain. I added wood running boards to the engine as well. For the roof i cut strips of al. duct tape and aded to the roof. oof was painted with a flat black.
Then last step is to weather the engine using some washes withacrylic paints.

Here is what it looks like now. I think i finally got the look I was after. Only took three trys lol.
The running boards are the same color as the cab, the light just makes it look lighter.

Thanks guys.
Chris next video will be another snowed in one. Suppose to get 12-18 inches of snow tomorrow. They keep upping the totals and might up being a blizzard.
Hi Shawn
My neice in Boston reports 3 feet of snow - I hope you are not buried - and please don't feel obliged to run the Forney quite yet :D
Cheers
Chris

Chris we got lucky only 9 inches. We ended up in a dry slot that gave us light snow for most of the storm. Wed night we are suppose to get another 3-6 inches and maybe a monster snowstorm for Sunday ugh. When will it end. I have the Scranton Steam up this weekend.

Lovely looking work Shawn really like the wooden cab

that looks so right:love:

Lovely job Shawn, glad to hear she is fixed too. That wooden cab and paint job has made a very pleasing look. Looks just right now

Sounds like you escaped the worst of the weather thankfully but still sounds the "wrong sort of snow" for easy running...
