I have just done 375 mile round trip for these.

The FO rack loco has full DCC and sound; the Ballenburg is analogue with a sound card in the coach.

The bridge i could not resist. HWMBO didn't know about it but spotted me lugging it out of the car.. :o The bruises may fade by C*******s

Hello!.......he's stolen one of nico's bridges :D

sounds like a jurny well worth it keith :)

That's got to be worth the trip, well done you

I have been 'playing' with the new acquisitions.

The little FO rack loco is a revelation. It has more sounds and oomph than the Saxon. The only matters needing attention so far as I can tell are one lamp to be replaced - the seller gave me a packet of bezels and lamp reflectors free and gratis - and two of the plough blades need replacing, not an urgent job. I can't wait for a dry spell to go out and test it. I never really rated these until I saw a real life 'brown job' on the Gornegratbahn a few months ago. Now I would happily run blue, yellow and green ones too. :D

The sound unit in the coach will be a bit of a challenge as the loco is analogue but the sound card is MTS. I have a couple of chipped diesels but they just don't sound right chuffing around the circuit......

The Ballenburg loco needs a bit of work; it is not picking up power on the two rear axles and the rear lights don't work.

Mike I shall probably be picking your brains please.

Ah well. Thanks Steve, it was offered on the spur of the moment and at a price too good to miss! :o

Very nice! whats the bridge made out of? Looks a damn site bigger than anything you'd fit in my car! :rolf:

both great locos and harder to come by-not to mention the ballenburg coach
well done

It is wrought iron strip, very well made and carefully painted. I expected some corrosion but it is very clean. As yet I haven't decided how I can use it!

Fortunately, one end tower could be unbolted which made things much easier. Otherwise it would have gone on my inflatable roofrack. ;)

I have had the base off the Ballenburg and solved the pick up problem.

There is no pick up from the middle drivers for the simple reason that they never had one!! Restoring pick up to the rear ones was as simple as bending one of the rigid connecting wires very slightly so that it bore onto the bullet connector.

I still need to resolve the rear light problem. It looks as if a visit to Mike is in the offing.

Cheeky Monkey - 28/11/2009 11:08 PM Good value but maybe you need some advice on stealth :D If your visiting Mike theres non more cunning

It's difficult to exercise stealth when I "go missing" for 9hrs.

A quick 20 mile trip to Bolton might go unnoticed but 375 miles is another matter. :rolf:

Blame it on the GPS, even if you don't have one, something like ''Sorry darling, but the (beep) electronic (beep) navigation (beep beep) device didn't (beep)ing tell me the (beep)ing right way, not like you darling - you always found the way on the map.''
Stealth done.
