Still a factory-installed MFX, I believe, only this time they've got the sound file right.... ;)

Looks very nice. Having already got a black one with the Rugen markings (as well as two green ones), I'm wondering if I can justify one of these too?
The Prehm driver works well in it.

Nice. I love my Meyer too. What sound decoder does it have?
Hi Dave,It has the stock decoder as fitted at the factory...this is the latest version item no 26843 which is far superior to the sound fitted to the green one 26842.

It would be rude not to:mm: as for the driver,he reminded me of David Essex with that neckerchief !

I bought one too.

While i love green locos, alas three headlamps and $200 difference made it easy. Plus, as i had an earlier all black IVk, 2 chuffs, , i decided on ......uniform appearance.....quite odd for my love of livery variations.

As i am still running analogue, i miss the start up whistle.
The sound on mine is nice, my first four to the turn lgb loco, and it really is great.

Mine does not seem to have the most sensitive subtle smooth start up throttle response, but is fine. With four chuffs, i seek that nice slow tempo increase. Nada.

My sound, is, odd, however. It seems , from time to time, to have some sort of resonance portion cut out and then return, almost as if backing off the throttle, and drifting. Still get four exhausts, but less bass or ???.

To my yank eye, these are ...wierd, with mirror cylinders, yet, i love their unique appearance.

Mine too smokes nicely. And, i can park it lights and smoke, low voltage. It does not have a cab switch like the previous lgb versions.ie no motor off, lights on.

I have to add, after attending a marklin digital presentation at a big denver train show, for their latest, digital system, i was put off. Clearly geek to geek speak.

Sadly, i was ready to go digital, and willing to refit half of my too many locos, etc. as the inclusion of mfx in new locos is tempting. I miss so much in operational features running analogue.

But mfx is designed, as i understand, not to be
compatible with other brands, seemingly overly complex, pricey, and, likely to become obsolete, with the new tablet sized controller.

And, I think i dont have the german mind set for automated train operation. The new system can set routes, turn outs, stations, etc. but even the techs were having issues doing this easily.

. Yoiks, my geezerness is showing, i guess.

Well, as long as all the MFX decoders continue to have standard DCC protocols as well so that they will run happily on Massoth and other systems, I think that will be OK - if Marklin ever become so hell-bent on commercial suicide that they remove all but the MFX protocol, that that would be a different matter entirely......

You say the sound is odd,I think that is how it is supposed to be. When you increase the speed it will chuff harder then go quieter as the the new speed is reached.I am running mine on LGB MTS3 and it works perfectly on that system,it's a great loco I am very pleased with mine.

I agree with Donkey. The real locos seem to do the same - not just on acceleration. The beat seems to come and go - maybe it is the load caused by curves or gradient.
