hi tom look inside the cab and you will see a 3 way switch on the boiler. set to the center position and that should do it. reguards allan.

There is a plug on the back of the cab. What is it for?

Usually connected to the loco's track pickups and may be used for coach lighting or additional pickup from a trailing vehicle.
If the latter polarity is important. Best to check before use especially if a chip may have been fitted
