Not for the purist - Newqida coaches

I am just in receipt of my birthday present from the kids (40 and 42). Three Newqida coaches. I know they are Chinese copies and are not as good as the real thing. However for a limited budget I think they are OK. I got three for the price of one LGB baggage car which is at the end of the train.
Have a look at

Depends on your definition of the real thing.
Look dam good to me, would be well chuffed
with that as a BDP.:thumbup::thumbup:

Gaurds van could be the spoiler though needs fetling
to look as [strike]real[/strike] good as the coaches.:rolf::rolf:

They look good to me.

Nothing ever remains standard on my railway, be it NQ, LGB, Bachmann or whatever.

It all gets repainted, rewheeled, recouplinged and re everything else.

It's all real to me. But then I am a bit strange.......

got two of those from my daughters as well.

definitely better, than what they gave me some years ago:

have to agree they look superb
how do they run?
do they stay on the track and points?
do they stay coupled?

what is the paint quality?
how is the fit-roof to body, platforms etc?

do they feel significantly lighter or cheaper than LGB ?
over here they are really cheap and ive still not tried to order even a single car because im so used to LGB
but they look great and a rake in green or ...blue for my blue frank s has been on my mind

paint can be patchy, best to look at few examples, some roofs fit better than others, I've taken out the plastic wheels and fitted metal ones to add some weight

but what u expect for under £40 a coach

As I have commented before, they scrub up well.
These are repainted in a whimsical livery.
Something I wouldn't dare or even contemplate with LGB or most other makes.

Early report on my new coaches.
I may have struck lucky but I can't find any fault with the paint work.
Re roofs. I couldn't get them off until had a crash. One flew off. Very handy - can now put people inside. Might consider some lighting.
They are certainly light and could do with added weight. Metal wheels is a good idea.
I had one or two early problems with derailing but that was due to imperfections in my track. That's been resolved.
Re clearances - they seem to be just the same as all my other stuff.
Couplings - I find them as good as, if not better, than LGB. The plastic spring appears more substantial than LGB and the hook doesn't drag as is often the case with my older LGB couplings. The spring is painted white which stands out I suppose. Can be painted black if they offend.
Hope that helps but I Have to say am chuffed!!

I put a strip of lead flashing on the floors to add extra weight in addition to the metal wheels.

Thanks, it is a copy of DR livery but with BR lining out and an Edelweiss logo!

Run- OK, wheels wobble
Stay on track - sometimes
Coupled- replacing the springs with the German ones does wonders
Paint - there is none
Fit - OK, but don't leave it in the sun, they don't do as well as that German brand (but then neither does Accucraft)

Lighter - substantially so, not made of automotive plastic, they are are like Bachmann cars.

So there are pros and cons, but excellent for the money.

Hello there,
if anyone is interested in these coaches watch on ebay.co.uk.
The dealer ecreastcoastrotor sells them for 24.99 GBP.
Kind regards
Soeren
