I was just reading, on "LGB e Scala G", about an older Stainz. I hadn't realized that the drive train was so much different from what we are used to on the newer models.

It seems that only one axle is powered. The electrical pickup brushes make contact with the axles and of course no skates, which is obvious.

From memory I think the gears that give it the nickname of Growler include a gear train linking the two axles.

Depends on the Version of the chassis, I have Growlers that the front Axle has No Gearing and Versions where both Axles are geared

I also have one that only has pickups on the front axle
