Hello ,

Was wondering if anyone has seen or knows of a supplier for a "G Scale" Pannier Tank engine.

Electric not live steam.

If someone has one what do they go like, accuracy of the details etc please.

Have a few OO Gauge ones (Love them) and would like to see it I can get one for Apache Junction.

Thanks in advance guys.

For information Bachmann Brassworks range 0 Gauge & Gauge 1 Fine scale have long been discontinued, The range sold well for several years but sales declined and eventually the range was dropped. The Chinese factory closed ( or stopped making models railways!)
It is possible there may be a GWR Pannier tank around somewhere, as mentioned above Tower Models is/was a stockist www.tower-models.com or alternatively telephone Dave or Rodger ( phone number on the website. They may have some knowledge which may assist in your search.

Worth considering that these models are more suited for Gauge 1 fine scale track rather than g scale track.

p have just checked Tower models G1 listings and there are no Panniers shown in the Bachmann Brass or Tower Brass lists ( the Chinese factory Sang Cheng produced models for both these ranges.

However there are several other locos listed which may take your fancey

How a bout a Nice factory finished (painted) Coronation Class £3275.

From memory the G1 panniers were in the region of £800.

A G scale Pannier would actually be gauge 3.
From Mels Wetton Gooey railway.
I believe this is a 'Garden Railway Specialists' model.

In which case, two came into GRS a week ago..
Along with a lot of other G3 kit.. Very nice it was too!

That's a beautiful locomotive

Are you looking for specifically a standard gauge GWR pannier or any "pannier" style loco ? Could I suggest in NG either the Baldwin 4-6-0 (Accucraft) or Alco/Mountaineer 2-6-2(Roundhouse) WW1 WD locos. Ok, a bit pricey and a bit left of field given your original request but in reality both "pannier tanks" and readily available on the 2nd hand front. Both are adjustable for running on 32 & 45 mm gauge track. Both types have had lives in civilian use and can be liveried in a number of ways. Max

Thanks guys,
This is the sort of Pannier Tank I was after, like I said I do have a number of them on my OO Gauge Layout and really love em.

So will keep scouring the net, never know what might pop up.

Appreciate your help.

Best regards

I do wish people would stop putting pics on here of G3 Stuff!! Oh the detail.
Am I correct the min radius for 62mm is around 16' (5Metres)?

Perhaps we need a G3 section on here;)

I have been hoping that Bachmann would make a Duck for their Thomas and Friends range. Was always my favorite as he is a GWR pannier.

Cannot see it happening now, as not a major character in the TV series. :-(

Alan,

My thinking was the same as yours. I have a G scale garden railway, which is mainly Welsh Narrow Gauge, but then I fancied a Pannier. A Gauge 1 model (at 1:32 scale) would have looked all wrong next to my G scale (1:19 to 1:22.5). So I laid a single standard gauge track (Gauge 3 - 63.5mm) as a siding at the rear of my railway and bought a GRS Pannier kit and two wagons. I fitted the Pannier with battery radio control and MyLocoSound.

Since then the siding has grown into a small station and I have built a live steam GWR railmotor using a GRS autocoach kit and Roundhouse steam components.

I think that all the GRS Gauge 3 stuff was made for 8' radius curves although I'm not sure that I would like to take the Manor down to anything less than 10' radius.
