Picture resizing utility

I have a large number of pics that I would like to reduce in size.
Can anyone recommend a utility which will batch process rather than doing them one at a time?
Preferably free of course but in fact I don't mind paying a reasonable sum.
Currently I use Pixresizer. It is good but tedious.

[align=center]Look at Microsoft Powertoy they have a free gadget that works everytime and has a lot of features like batching, plus it works and its free

Thanks Pete. Usually I avoid Microsoft stuff but I'm not proud....
i will give it a go.

[align=center]It is the only microsoft gadget I use and I think they only added it as they were being left out, it has worked for me for over a year and there has been no demands for money or even worse hijacking my albums into the void,a nd sending me horrid pics of weddings etc!!!!

I don't know why but resizer stopped working on my ancient XP SP3.
Irfan view works just as well and is also a freebie.

It is v odd.
I have loaded Image Resizer twice but it disappears. All I can find is the Read Me file!
When I check for Installed Programs it shows as 0bytes!
I have had this happen with Power Toys apps in the past.

[align=center]I wonder if they have added it in with another that need an update, my defender stops any updates unless I allow it

I am not very clever with these gadgets so if it dont work straight away I am no help sorry

I have used this one:

http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm for editing in bulk and found it works very well.

Here's another free one. Does batches too. Used it for years. Right click on image (or selection) , click on VSO Resizer, click to ignore the message box (the only drawback of the free version), select size to resize to and whether to make copy or overwrite, and select go. Takes less than 5 seconds in practice.
