Hello all...just signed up although I've been lurking for a time.
What is your opinion of the Piko BR260 Diesel Lok ? I am considering buying one.
Appreciate your reviews, opinions, etc.

:)
Thanks for the 2 replies i received but I find it hard to believe that no one across the pond does not have one of the Piko BR260s.
My main concern is I think I remember reading somewhere there had been problems with the gears on the first release units ? Or with the drive mechanism ?
My finances are such that I hate to spend money on a dead horse. If someone has one of these loks and is happy with it, that's basically what I want to know.
Again, thanks to the two gents that replied.

I have one of thses great little locos, bought second hand so she had been used a bit, and so far it has been a relaible performer with no issues whatsoever.
I repainted her to match my passenger stock, although she doesnt usually pull more than four bogie cars but manages the gradients on my line without any trouble.
I would say a new one would be a good buy for you.

Mole has one of these which was running poorly.

MMTS and I found it was due to the quartering being out, and MMTS managed to work out how to 'reset' this on the articulated chassis.

Once the quartering was re-aligned it ran very well....

Thank you gentlemen...I guess it was the quartering I read somewhere(when you get my age you'll understand).
Sounds like I will have to start saving up finances to get this little jewel.
By the way, I love this forum and the chance to communicate with folks across the ocean.
Happy rails to all.

Bud,
While i do not have a BR260, I do have a BR194 that has had a few issues. However, Piko America has been outstanding in their support, even reimbursing me to ship it across the country to them. I have never experienced such magnanimous product warranty support with prompt responses and liberal parts replacement. So you will not have a "dead horse".
