Is that the train or the driver:rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:

mm nice infirered remote on the toytrain set

 Exactly what I thought! :rolf:

Not 100% sure about those glasses but 101% sure about that pola level crossing - can't see me building one of those from fascia board

Do like the TEE VTT11.5 train:bigsmile: but this model just looks over sized for 45mm would look more at home on Gauge 3
What scale are they using for this train as i take it it's not gauge one 1:32 or 1:29
Maybe he could do with some lenses in those Elton John glasses

The Piko 1:27 G-Scale Story is one of the strangest things i ever faced in modell-railroading.

They are breaking ALL rules. ALL.
Just one lin in G-Scale:
it should run on 45mm track and it must run everywhere lgb-stuff does, too.
The "VT11.5" is one more of those railroad-modell-freaks. It just looks like it will be SOMETHING looking LIKE a VT11.5.
But that does NOT matter. As long as it runs on lgb-layouts and as long as people will buy it.

The weird thing about:
NOONE did have SUCH success in g-scaling.

So, no question, people WILL buy it. I am quite sure about.
Rule 8 to everyones will and pleasure.

The collision is in MY world, where theres is less understanding to run german standard gauge express coaches on LGB R1 track.
And for more, the broad success shows how WRONG my world is.

So, i am sure that the VT11.5 --standing in a "caree" around a R1 track-- will bring the modelers to say "wow, it looks great".

This strange story began with a very ugly pair of glasses.
It continues, and i will work on my world to fit in better to mainstreams.

Greetings

Frank

Frank, I think it is your world that is the sensible, realistic one. The TEE is a a model of an iconic, handsome train but your are right it would have been better in G1 or G3 IMHO.

I believe that the Piko standard gauge lineup is a brilliant extension of the largescale 'toy' market. No one spoke out against LGB when they pursued their standard gauge European range in 2005/2006. Remember that LGB had been producing American prototype 'standard' gauge on 45mm track since the early 1990's. Piko responded to this direction with, initially, their excellent Taurus and then the subsequent products. Not every little German boy wants to model narrow gauge railways.

Followers of specific European scale/gauge models are used to paying exhorbitant prices for exquisite model locomotives and rolling stock. However, the more budget conscious see G45/largescale as a more affordable option. LGB began the trend and Piko took up the mantle left in LGB's illfated legacy. I applaud Piko's decision to invest heavily in new tooling and also to resist the urge to chase the cheaper Chinese manufacturing option.

Full kudos to Piko. I do not model German standard gauge, however, the iconic 'TEE' will no doubt find a place on my railroad. I recently posted a video link to a handmade 'largescale' TEE, built to run alongside LGB rolling stock. I was very pleased with the comparative looks and clever 'scaling' had the trains basically the same size. A gauge 1 'TEE' running alongside LGB narrow-gauge equipment would look quite comical and be priced well outside the realm of most budgets.

Is every Piko loco always going to be driven by their boss, or is he ever going to let anyone else have a go....? ;)

"No, it's MY train, I'M going to drive it!!"

Jon.

Wonder if they are ever going to do a Special Edition where the driver's glasses are painted green.....? :rolf:
