Planting Trees? Worth reading

Its a good idea! I kept mine in their pots, which has retarded growth, but the tap root goes down through the bottom of the pot and makes them difficult to extract ::)

Do you think smaller holes in the pot would help against that?

Yep...I have advocated the method before.
Its ok as long as you trim the tops and the roots and bang 'em back in the pot..
I have actually practised this and it works quite well...

Simple solution; depot the plant, cut a disk of BRONZE fly mesh ( bronze will repel the roots), if you dont have flys where you live then any fine mesh will do, put the mesh in the bottom of the pot then repot.
Ok so what do you call a fly that has no wings? A walk.....

Wot - no flys? With having a large area of wetland adjacent to us, flies are a nuisance (have a flyscreen at the backdoor), and so are the biting wee beasties >:(

No, what starts off as a fine, cotton-like, root will grow (and some more). I like the idea of being able to lift it out and snip the roots back. When I get around to it, I'll give it all a try (now is that 1002 on my list? :D )
