Platform canopy

Nice piece of woodworking, Henri! In English we'd simply call it a Platform Canopy. I'd be inclinded to make it just a couple of cm taller if you haven't yet done the final uprights, just to make sure you have clearance for anything that you might acquire later.....

Changed the title.
I would probably go for the height of an LGB Tram with pans up plus a Cm the will sort it. But do you yet have an LGB Tram? If not can give you that measurement if you ask nicely!

Or you could make it so that it does not overhang the Track then the current heigh would do nicely. Perhaps befor you start, look at some pictureS of Railways to get a feel. Mariezelbahn in Austria would help a lot as it is 760mm Gauge and Overhead Electrified.

Just trundle through the pictures on this search:-

Hm Henri, looking at your Canopies again just after your like. I wonder if they will take away the Vicinal look that you were trying to create? Perhaps some Googling on the effect that you want might be worthwhile, because the rural Vicinal feel that you have previously gone for was wonderful. The prototype look always looks best. Can always help with some Vicinal Station Views if you have trouble finding them.

Very nicely done

As far as I'm aware, only two canopies were used at the RTM. One ccompletely made of wood (and very ugly) and this one I found. The one pictured is the main station in Rotterdam with platforms and canopy. My layout is too small to have this building in the middle of the platforms.

This site in Rotterdam was in a very urban landscape, in fact when last in Rotterdam circa 1999 I was able to take some pictures of buildings in the area that have appeared in old books of the site.

I can now see what you are trying to emulate, tricky in a small plot. I think I might have tried a Half Relief Building on one of the ends of your line, but that would have made the canooy on your continuous run. Pic of the RTM Station taken in 1999 (from the other way to your pic) plus I have sent you some more pics from a couple of books by conversation.image.jpgJonD
