Having two grandchildren I equipped each with their own loco and control. All has gone great for the last two years, but now Jessica has somehow damaged hers. I have cross checked all the parts and batteries and have come to the conclusion the hand set has packed in. Can any one help with contact details of anybody or anyplace I can get it repaired or replaced with new. Hopefully someone can help as we are now having I want a go now problems.

Have you checked the handset (Tx) that is not functioning on both locos, like wise the working Tx on both locos, to confirm it is a Tx issue.

Both locos work with one controller the other controller doesn’t light up when switched on. The battery in the working one doesn’t work in the other but the battery in the broken one works the other so all way cross checking has been done

First, look at the battery contacts of the broken controller (the metal parts where the battery connects ). Are they clean and shiny, or do they look oxidized, dull, blue or green? If they are not shiny you can try cleaning them with a scotch brite pad, or sand paper if it's really bad. If there is old battery leakage you can try wiping it a bit with hydrogen peroxide first before scrubbing it till it's shiny. Also check to see if the battery contacts are bent in so that they do not have good contact with the battery; if that is the case you can try bending them outwards for better contact. If those don't work, you may need to open the controller and have a look around with an ohm meter to check for continuity. It might be that it was dropped in a certain way or left in the heat, and a solder connection may have come undone and may need to be re-flowed.

I've also heard of the buttons in this controller getting stuck, and supposedly hitting it against something(not too hard) could un-stick the buttons. If you open it you can try to take a closer look at the button system.

Thanks for all this information. I have tried all the information about the battery so will now have a go at opening it up tomorrow and check it out

If the battery contacts were in need of cleaning, they might need more cleaning that you'd imagine. When you open it, you can see if the voltage from the battery shows up on the other side of the contacts inside the controller.
