I have this crane and I love it. It's operation is excellent with one exception. The infra-red control can be a nusance at times. It's not that the daylight affects the operation, it doesn't. The problem is that the two receivers located on the crane's counterweight are 180 degrees from one-another. So that while operating the swivel feature, the receivers get out of range. I have to move around more than I would like to in order to get movement again. The reason I don't want to move is because I have a switch which is located in a fixed place that controls the electro-magnet. So if I want to turn the switch on I have to constantly keep dancing around.
The solution is to hardwire the crane's operations to a fixed control box. This can't be that difficult. I'm sure I can locate which wires go to which motor. Then simply bypass the infra-red receivers and go directly to the new control box. I wonder if anyone has done something like this.

Here is a video showing the crane in action. The lighting isn't the best. The scene with the crane starts at 2:19.
