QSI Sound For A Aristo RDC3

Richie

Rio Grande Railroad , Mountain biking , Gardening
Have got a Aristo RDC3 that i would like to add sound to , has any one put a QSI sound decoder in theirs is it just a case of pushing the decoder in the slots in the main board in the ceiling (plug & play) . Have looked on the QSI web site but the sound library has no sound play for the RDC so i have no idea what the loco and horn sounds like also only shows fitting the QSI decoder to a RDC1 which has different wiring .

Jeremy at Dragon G Scale is the only stockist of QSI in the UK that I know of, he may be able to advise

Hi Keith might be worth a call as he gave me very good advise when i put a QSI in my Bachmann K-27 which i had from him .

I soon will have an RDC, (it's in the mail). I looked at QSI, then called, the version for the Budd RDC "should" be out in 4 weeks. But 6 months ago it was to be out in Feb. 2012. I put a QSI into a Mikado works great, gerat sound. That's why I may wait.
I don't know of another diesel sound, 6 cylinder, to use. Does anyone?????

Let me know if anyone EVER gets a QSI card for G Scale. I have almost lost the will to live waiting for the Titan and I gather that its predecessor is no longer available.

Hi Richie.
Towards the bottom of the Sound files library they have the RDC file.
I have a QSI Aristo sound board with that sound file plugged into my RDC1.
The board should equally plug into the RDC3 but as people have noted the Aristo board is no longer available and the Titan has yet to appear.

On the QSI Home page select [style="color: #0000ff;"]'Downloads & Manuals' from the menu.
Scroll down until you see in the left hand window 'Q2 G Scale Sound Files (Aristo and Magnum)'
Click on the link under that heading [style="color: #0000ff;"]'Q2 G Scale Sound Files for Diesel Locomotives'
[style="color: #333333;"]Scroll down to almost at the bottom and you will find Rail Diesel Car (RDC) with 2 sound files under it.

I have one in my RDC-1 and RDC-3 and they are both plug and play. Just won 2 more RDC-1's on ebay and will wait for the new Titans. They sound just like the real engines which I have ridden on on the Cape May Seashore Line in New Jersey. Stay away from the Dallee boards, motor sound cuts out or goes to idle when you blow the horn. It is monophonic not polyphonic. Jack

Hi Jack
Do you have any video of your RDC's in action ? Was also wondering about the decoder when it's plugged into the RDC3 in the roof can it been seen through the windows, shame Aristo didn't put the electrics in the parcel department .

Hi Richie
You can put a thin plastic sheet to cover the board and block the view through the vents. Apparently the light can also spill through from the passenger compartment and be seen through the vents so this plastic 'cover' would do two things in one go.
I have a QSI card that is waiting to be reprogrammed for the RDC 3 sound but have not found anyone with the QSI programmer yet.

Jeremy at Dragon G Scale might be prepared to. He has the programmer.

Hi Mike
When i do get round to putting sound in i will take a look at covering the vents , not very easy removing the body have done it twice now once to put the fan back in the smoke unit which still won't work and again to fit some figures . Do find that light does creep through the cab ends that join the body do remember reading about this in the Garden Railways review of the RDC3

Tonys'trains has been in touch with QSI and by the end of THIS month there should be a PNP Titan for the RDC!
I cant wait. The unit runs so well now, I cant wait to add sound. Will advise.
