The cylinder block is offset to centre line of chassis so that from the cab looking forward there is approx 7mm clearance between block and frame on LHside and 3mm on RHside.
If you are getting one of these engines heres a little tip:- The cylinders are held to the block by 2 springs, it is easy to have a fire burning in the smokebox without realising it, the result is that the heat weakens the upper spring and steam will escape from the block. I found out the hard way.
If you cut a small piece of plumbers mat and fit it above the block it protects the spring from the heat should a fire occur.
Other than that they are good little engines and can pull quite heavy loads.

Many thanks for all your help.
I?m building a gauge 3 tank engine and need a power unit. GRS sell some geared ones, and I?ve head good and bad things. I?ve asked Regner if they will supply their unit and gears as a spare and am waiting to hear back. I feel this will be a better option, and now think they will fit in between the frames- its an inside frames engine that I?m building.
Failing that I may use mamod upgrade type cylinders and meccarno gears. However to do this I will need the reversing block to have about 4mm milled off each side and the same done to some spacers, something I can?t do.
Much as I?d love proper cylinders I can?t make the motion up, and it would cost the earth.
By the way, this is why I was after the Edrig parts.

Thanks for the help. I contacted martins models and come payday will get the parts from him. The oscillator unit is only. £140 inc the gear mounted on it so inc the other gears required may only come in at about £160 GRS want nearly twice that. I'm just working out why there is a middle gear on these engines.
