It sat for several years in the pipeline, the boiler with fittings had already been identified on the photographs of Regner's livesteam feeding pump, and now its here:

? 41.7mm is about 1.5 inches:laugh:

My RhB G4/5 slows down severly in radius 2000mm so 3000mm would be appropied.

Prices: about 1.6667x LGB plastic sound version

(without R/C)

I would love one of these and at 3k is pretty good value for money I think. Not sure the kit is within my capability though.

Wow it looks incredible

I rather like this meself....

Ah it appears the boiler is 41.7mm diameter, (that's the symbol O with a slash through it),

"Rad" is German for "wheel", not an abbreviation for "Radius"; I would assume that this means that the driving wheel diameter is 41.7mm.

Mmm, s'orlrite innit!

Translate-o-vision gave the following....

This is a model of the 1916 Willamette American Shay

Among other things, this design is characteristic by having the steam engine located on the boiler top, as with contemporary steam tractors. The power transmission takes place by means of our adjustable-tension drive-chain, onto an angled bevel gear drive and then to the flexible Cardan shaft. The framework and the cab are made completely out of wood.

You get the model as part-assembled kit, i.e. the steam engine and the boiler are delivered complete and operational. Installation for R/C is in preparation.

Technical data:

L/B/H: 390 /110 /170 mm

Boiler-mounted twin-cylinder steam-engine.

Chain-driven transmission

Cylinders: 10 mm bore - 14 mm stroke

Self-starting

Gas-fired flame-tube boiler ? operational pressure 3 bar [~45 psi]

Water top-up system includes pump bottle

Pressure gauge

Gauge adjustable: 30, 32, 45 mm

Minimum radius 600 mm

Part-assembled kit, includes steam-engine and boiler ready installed

Order No 25485

looks nice but can?t help thinking if I am paying that much I want all the wheels to be proper i.e. the centre one is flange less which to me spools the look.

The middle wheel IS flangeless on the full size loco. When originally used on the Harz they were a bit stiff. The leading axel now moves on some lever mechanism (Beugniot levers - have to google that!) and the centre wheel flange WAS removed and a wider tyre fitted.

Yep Stockers is correct, the LGB one has flanges because they articulated the chassis as 3 & 2 axle blocks for the main driving wheels so it would go round R1. Mind you it overhangs flippin miles if you do it and as a result the LGB ones do tend to not sit quite straight on staight track.
I suppose you could screw a plate to the bottom to lock them straight and then turn off the flanges on the LGB one
