Regner Willi - a question about lubrication

I've just taken delivery of a brand new Willi (I wanted a loco that just toddled around the track without constant worrying if it's going too fast!) and after having run it a couple of times, I've got a question:

After a run, my Caradoc has only a small amount of 'well mulsified' steam oil in the oil reseviour, but Willi has only used a tiny amount of oil and there's no emulsifying been done to the oil - the oil just looks axactly like when I filled it. Is this correct? Should I expect it to be like Caradoc's residue?

I love the loco, but found it was a pain to light until I got the knack.

Thanks Steve. Yes, I had done the 2 - 2.5 turns to open the valve, perhaps it needs more. I'll try that next time.

I don't understand how it works, though. The Caradoc one passes the steam over the oil (and therefore collects the oil) but this one just has a side pipe at the very top leading to the steam flow. How is it meant to mix the oil and water?

The oiler valve should be open about half to one turn,if in doubt phone Martins Models.

Don't turn the gas up too high when lighting,it'll just blow out.My Chaloner, which is a similar engine is also a pig to light at times.

Thanks everyone.... points all round!
I feel a lot better now that I know what to do (and that my new purchase is not going to fail at any second!).

Thanks again

Tom

Tip for lighting burners....hold a finger over one of the air holes as you light up, makes the mixture richer and seems to settle the flame better if you leave it for a few seconds. This works on Accucraft locos too, the recent ones I have are both finicky to light, but this sorts it!
