Remote control outside lights.

Although the reason I am asking has nothing to do with garden railways I'm hoping that someone here might still be able to help.

I am trying to find an outside light that is battery powered so no mains involved and can be turned on and off by a remote control. I'm sure they must exist but various combinations of the words light, lamp, outside, remote do not come up with what I require. I don't want motion sensor just a straight on/off with a hand held remote.

Thank you

Paul

Whilst shown for internal use, they could probably be weather proofed for outdoor use.

There may well be something else suitable from the product range on their website.

Probably not the best time of year to be searching for battery remote control lights as ebay etc. are swamped with seasonal stuff :D

What's it actually for? Perhaps you need to mention "security", "garden" or something amongst the keywords, although that then tends to include PIR lights.

We got a new to us car a few months ago and at first I thought that the reversing lights didn't work. It seems they do but are nowhere near as good as the ones on the Honda Accord we used to have. I like to reverse into our drive and there are no street lights so when there is also no moon it can be a little awkward turning and getting it right for the narrow drive without going over either ours or the neighbour's flower bed. My thought was a light that marked the corner where the drive and the pavement meet that I can activate from the car and then turn off again afterwards. Once I'm in the drive and gone back just a few feet a motion sensor security light comes on which illuminates the drive but it cannot be too near the front or every vehicle or pedestrian would set it off.

I can probably put the suggested light in something waterproof and set it in the ground. It doesn't have to illuminate the area just show the corner.

Thank you

Paul

How about purchasing a set of battery powered outdoor lights and a separate remote controlled on/off switch, either weatherproof or in in a shed, where a length of the lighting wiring may be sited?

Just a thought, when I have been in a similar situation, I put the 4 way flashers on, they seem to throw out a good light, all be it orange, but it’s usually enough to see where you are reversing.

I've ordered the lights but that makes sense. I will give it a go next time. I'm sure the lights will work round the garden if they are not needed out the front.

I bought one of these to light up my mum's back door so her carers can see what they're doing when they call. It was too complicated to set up mains lighting as the sensor needed to be opposite the corner of the outside wall rather than mounted on the wall of the house. It needed to both point down the path and also point towards the back door. This sits on the oil tank angled to light both path and door.

It says it's for outdoor use but also says it needs to be protected from the weather (!?). So, I've placed it inside a plastic box which is open at the front.

It gives plenty of light, only comes on when it's dark and for ten quid saved a lot of faffing.

I don't see why it has to be remote controlled? Over this side of the pond we have a myriad of choices in solar powered lights, which turn on at dusk and off when the battery runs out a few hours later.

I had 'fence lights' on my outside stair, and once I swapped the cheap NiMH battery for a decent one they lasted for years. I also bought some motion-detecting solar wall mounted lights (see below) which do the same.

Amazingly they are also available outside the US but as I mentioned I only want them on when I need them. I don't want to add to the light pollution in the area.

The ones we have light up for a few minutes before switching off. If you don't want them to be set of by all and sundry, try angling them so they pick up movement where you need it
