Removing Piko VT/VS Railbus body

There are several interesting posts on here about modifying the Piko railbus and I'd appreciate advice from folk who have done so because I want to reverse some dubious mods made by the original owner of mine but I'm stuck at the first hurdle - I can't separate the body from the chassis! I've removed the 10 screws as per the manufacturer's instructions but I cannot get the wretched things to separate and I'm running out of fingernails. The body seems to be firmly stuck above the coupler at each end. Anyone able to pass on the technique they used to open one up, please?

Hm have a couple of the trailers but do not wish to pull them apart, I wonder if the final hurdle is anything to do with the coupler mounting plate? Not the actual couplers but you may need to get them iff to get at that plates holding screws

OK, I am wearing my dunce's cap for the rest of the day, since I discovered after 2 hours of brute force and ingnorance, the extra step of pulling out the 4 buffer heads and loosening the concealed screws within!

Hells teeth remember that now! Oh memory where are you? At least perseverance wins through. But dunces cap not required, it is a pretty obscure and not so intuitive way of holding things together, especially when you have already removed 10 screws.

You're a proper diplomat!

All went much better after that - I installed the lighting kit, cut off the awful knuckle couplers superglued to each vehicle and with some effort, unglued and removed the pantograph (seriously, a dirty great unconnected pantograph - I bought the set a few years ago for a good price as it was something of a basket case). Now I'm at peace with the railbus again, I'll take the opportunity of having it in bits to repaint it into something a little more in keeping with my railway.

Well at least they are out of sight! Still it was clever of you to locate them
