Removing the chopper on accucraft couplings

Just about to go and get some steam up but just a quick post.
I think the chopper couplings are too rigid for my track laying so Im gonna experiment with chains.
Do the the actual Choppers remove from the couplings, they look like M3 nuts and bolts but this may be just for show?

Do they unbolt and can easily be removed?

If not any tips on keeping the chopper out of the way?

Yes simply unscrew and pop them in a bag for safe keeping, They may be a little tight as they are sealed by the paint. I've taken them off one end of all my stock to make uncoupling easy as my layout is flat.

You can simply remove the spring inside so the couplers become floppy. But as Paul said, keep the springs safe in case you want to re-fit them.

If you unscrew the nut from the bottom of the hook, you can remove the chopper and replace the hook.
It then functions(!) as a "normal" 16mm hook & chain set-up.

Cheers gonna do some chopper removal. Added in chains yesterday and no more losing wagons. Find it easier to uncouple with chains using a dental tool.
