Hi again folks,

Thought it sensible to update my earlier posting/pics with the news that I just received the first set of sample resin mouldings for the up-coming Gas-Mech. dress-up kit. Here are some photos showing the mouldings posed on and off my Gas-Mech. model. Items such as the detailed tool tray (lovely!), stowage box, air tank and fuel tank can be located wherever at the builder's discretion.

To those people who have asked, I'm not planning on including a new headlight or exhaust stack. But who knows, replacement mouldings for these may be made available separately from us in the future. For the time being, our large-scale Gas-Mechanical 'dress-up kit' will comprise of the following: 1 x A4-sized photo-etched brass sheet, the resin mouldings pictured here, a bag of lost wax brass grab handles for the cab rear, turned brass handrail posts, brass wire and rod for handrails/piping. Price TBA soon as I get the invoice from the etchers and pro-moulders. Thanks again for your time.

Hi Folks,
First posting from a new member. New to G-scale that is. Pete McParlin here from BACKWOODS MINIATURES. My wife Jen and I have been making narrow gauge kits since 1990 but have now decided to enter the large scale market-place with the release of our first kit - a large scale version of our ever-popular 'dress-up kit' for Bachmann's Gas-Mechanical 0-4-0. We've sold thousands of our On30 version of this kit, so now we're about to unleash its larger bretheren. The kit comprises a sheet of precision photo-etched brass parts and some high quality, pro-moulded resin castings. These components replicate most of what's included in our On30 version. Price TBA very soon. Check our website for details soon. If our venture into large scale proves successful, we'll follow up with more kits in the same vein.
Thanks for your time.

Hi folks,

Just uploaded some photos showing my Bachmann Gas-Mech. fitted with some of the etched brass details contained in the up-coming 'dress-up kit'. The test etch arrived earlier today. The photos show how far I got after a relaxing couple of hours. Do be aware the photos show only the etches added and none of the resin mouldings which have yet to be received. Mouldings include the following: Wood stowage box, Gas tank, Air tank, Ballast weights for cab rear, Wood tool tray full of tools, Air filter, Horn. And there'll be 4 x lost wax brass ladder rungs for the centre of the cab rear. Can't wait to finish off my large scale Gas-Mech!

Incidentally, one of the photos shows my weathered yellow On30 Gas-Mech. The up-coming large scale version differs by not having the replacement exhaust. I figure most modellers will want to retain the large scale model's original exhaust which features a smoke unit. Be aware that the side-skirts can be modelled with the hatches open or closed. Or omit the skirts altogether if you prefer. It's your model.

Cheers, Pete @ BACKWOODS MINIATURES

Woo hoo. Was contemplating getting one of those locos and weathering it a bit so it looked like your beeat up version. Just too many jobs in the pipeline at the moment

Re:Hi from new member - and new 'dress-up' kit for B/mann's Gas-Mechanical.

Looks like a great mod, but two questions spring to mind.

[*]Is this the same kit that was available some years back, but with White Metal parts? 2. I have the Lilliput V11 which apart from the location of the lights and chimney look remarkably like the Davenport ? This is a question I have been going to ask members for some time. Any comment please?

So do the mod?s fit both loco?s ?

The one comment I would make on the Lilliput loco is that it runs very well but needs more weigh, so the White Metal would have been of help in that regard.
