I'm looking at buying either a 20271 'Heidi' or 21272 'Thusis' (depending if the latter has lobbed on the far side of the world yet) in the next couple of weeks. Can anyone give me any feedback on these locos? Is the latter version (sound aside) better? How do they fare in terms of power pickup/tractive power? At present I'm running analogue but will most likely be upgrading to digital in the next year.

Cheers,
Michael

i have the green hidie, ive added sound, its fittted with a alloy wieight block, instead off lead, to me it feels decidedly lighter than the traditional lead, but as far as i can tell ,this dosnt afect pulling power , the bendy handrails spoil,what could have been lgbs finest steam loco...
its proven to be a relable,hard working loco..
and yes, id buy another one

Though I have neither, from what I've seen the Thusis doesn't seem to suffer from the bendy handrails that Mike and others have mentioned on the Heidi. If I were in the market for one, then it would be the Thusis for me I think.

Where are you planning on buying from, the local Australian importer? If not, then several reputable dealers on German eBay seem to have quite good deals on the Thusis right now - even with shipping and duties, you might still save some money.

Green is the reserve colour and only correct for Heidi when it was in exile on the BOB for in steam. Black was the correct livery in service for the Landquart Davos days and RhB in service and how Heidi will run when finished as they've already painted her and she's carrying all her plates too.
So Nigel is 90% right ;)
Superb loco and the only fault is Heidis wobbly plastic handrails which can be replaced with wire if you chop out the plastic rails and drill out the knobs to take suitable wire. Thusis doesn't seem to have this problem on the two I've seen.
Very good runner and pulls decent length trains, really the only decision is do you prefer green or black?

BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!:bigsmile::rolf::rolf::rolf::rolf:

Hi, if we are picking ?/ the heidi --for me, dare i say a bit GWR - (here comes a debate ) /////regards Dave

I loved my Heidi. She was fitted with factory sound which was superb. An excellent runner that never let me down. Unfortunately, she didn't fit my railway as well as a Countess / Earl and someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse, so she's moved on. The good news is she's only 2 miles away and I still get to see her frequently :bigsmile:.

Hi .,// thanks Paul, swmbo just dragged me off, to the bathroom - she has been saying it for weeks/// -- Ha Ha - Keiths got the right idea --one of each regards dave

Thanks for all the feedback. I've liked the look of these locos for a while and when SWMBO suggested getting me one for my birthday - well, who am I to say no. Don't know if I can exert enough charm to swing the two though :)
