RhB Ge4/4 II body transplant

Thanks to Philbahn I aquired this red Arosa body from the early 2043 model. It's taken a while to get round to it but I dived in this week and this is the result.

First the donor, In the fantasy blue livery also 622 so I suppose it's almost a repaint!

Stripping down.

The donor is the later rebuilt version with square headlights so I had to rebuild the internal lighting support at each end to work with the earlier round headlights.
The chassis was painted with Plasti-kote 3102 grey which is a very close match to the LGB parts. Just got to order the transfers for the data panels.

I also painted the window surrounds black to see how that looked and I'm going to do the other one now as well.

Here's a photo of Neils later version of the round headlight model, notice they changed the electrical socket. I'm not sure whether to cut the top off the plug and put a pin in it to hold it in the hole so it looks like this or to leave it as is.

I'll swap it for a Harz 2-10-2! :rolf:

Forgot to mention the doors were sprayed with Halfords Nissan red 526 which is a good match to the RhB red.

Tested it this morning and all the lights work correctly which was the only worry.

Seems a fair swap:bleh::rolf::rolf::rolf:

Paul you don't happen to have a matching colour for radio grischa by any chance???

Only I have a body but no doors, so I might need to spray some off a donor loco when I get one

Sorry not the LGB one mine is Bemo HOm so probably not quite the same.
It's easy pop down halfords with the body and spend a happy 10 minutes taking their paint rack apart while the staff look on with bemusement. If they don't have a match the bigger stores do the scan and mix so they just stick the bodyshell under the lens and out pops a slightly more expensive tin of paint eventually.

There's nothing quite like it for getting the staff wondering is he just mad or a graffiti artist?

Sorry Neil . Paul forced me to sell it to hin:rolleyes:

Looks good Paul, but have you seen the latest (real life) livery on 622? White and orange with Japanese characters to celebrate the link with the Hakone railway. Don't think I'll be going for that one in HOm.

Cheers
M

Yep and not to keen on it or most of the others. I like Bernina 100 and LOGIN on the 4/4II's but the ones where they painted the solebar red at the front really look odd.
I can feel me being resistant to change  oh well at least they are all nice and red now in G scale!
