Rhb Pantograph Baggage Coach 30691

A crimbo present, last year was the pantograph roof section from the current 30691 coach.

I intend to transplant it onto the older green version of this coach. Had a trial fit at the weekend, the rub is with all the gubbings on the underside of it, it will not fit without serious "modifications" chopping to the guards compartment.

Now I know I can just simply fit the roof the other way round, as I have seen done elsewhere. However I would like to fit it with the "pan" above the guards end, operate it with a servo, decoder and rig up the lights as well.

Obviously LGB have modified (Changed the moulded parts of the compartment.) the inside of this current model to get the roof to fit, tried to find a picture of it, or find a parts diagram, without much luck. Just wondering if anyone out there has a pic of the coach sans roof.

Its useful, still need a picture of the inside of the guards compartment of the model, just to see what I guess I am aiming for in the cutting department.

Err no, just fancy a green one, red does not do it for me. With the exception of the 38670 the STAR[C]KS coach all the rest, five including the baggage one are green.

Mind you I have a long held desire to have a green restaurant coach as well, that would require a repaint.

Thanks, that will do nicely, that coach side spacer is something I wasn't expecting.

BTW did you notice if it had a part number on it?

Wonder if I can heat up and modify a straight one, and will Swmbo notice if her hair dryer goes missing for a bit.

Do you mean the shaped cross brace located by screws between the carriage walls?

It appears to have no part number but it has the same cross section as the braces in the green carriage and is shaped to allow space for the internal pantograph mechanism (which is operational albeit sans motor). I assume this is also why the other walls/partitions of the guards compartment are missing in 30691.

I've occasionally thought of motorising the pantograph, adding internal and external lighting and controlling them via the Massoth eMotion 8FL decoder (8152001).

Looking back at your first piccies, Gordie, there appears to be some sort of green cross member.

Can you not cut the guard's compartment down to that line ?:think::think:

Yep its a straight cross member, could be heated up and shaped, left out, or put the roof the other way around, plenty of options.

Going to be one of those kitchen worktop projects, that I can leave, where it is, between visiting Swmbo in hospital, when she goes in next month...
