Hi all,
Does anyone run roundhouse locos with LGB stock. I have some LGB which i run with my regner Vincent and Willi which looks fine.I'm planning on buying a roundhouse Billy kit next and painting in satin black. Question is, will this look right with LGB stock in this case the Austrian Zillertal bogie coaches (on order) and DR wagons. (all narrow guage prototype). I have googled roundhouse with LGB etc..but have been unable to locate any photos.

Many thanks......

Personnally I don't think it really matters whether it goes or not. If you like it....go for it, the rest will sort itself out, even if you end up aquiring different stock just to run with it.

Definately a Rule 8 situation.

It's also worth running through some narrow gauge photos. The difference in height between locos and rolling stock varies quite significantly.

It's only on railways like the Ffestiniog that the heights are consistent due to the limitations of the loading gauge - and that's because of the tunnels.

I would also add that building your own, be it from scratch, or a kit, is the finest way to get to understand how it works.

Yes and, IMHO, yes.
I think the coaches are actually those Austrian bogie ones painted in RhB colours by LGB.

Couldn't agree more, here's one of the Ffestiniog's larger coaches on a trip up north.

The answer is 'yes' ? not only that but Billy is based on a Koppel locomotive and therefore looks right with this sort of stock ? go for it ? you will be very pleased with the results. Just one thing. When you order your Billy then order the crosshead/droplink/combination lever set from Roundhouse as well SBCHC from Roundhouse website under 'enhancements'. This is what they put on their more expensive engines and is comparatively cheap, a dead easy fit with nut twirler and screwdriver and it will improve the look of your loco enormously.

Looks fine to me?

Don't even need to invoke Rule 8 in this case....

My two Billies regularly run with bogie coaches "paired" from Lehmann starter coaches.
These rather poor pics are frames grabbed from a video while visiting the Mossala Hill Rly:-

It's a funny old world - I bought that cheapo on a whim, decided I didn't like it much with the over fussy lining and offered it for sale on here - got no takers, so it got re-painted into green (it was a brown one) and L&L decals put on it! Halved it's value.....:rolf:

Fantastic... thanks very much to all for your comments, encouragement and for the pictures.. Billy looks absolutely spot on with the continental stock...
I'm looking forward with even greater anticipation to the 16mm society Decauville project kit which should hopefully kick off later this year... That will look good..
Happy new year to all and thanks again...
