8|Hi I have just obtained a nice early model of the Roundhouse Fowler locomotives and just wondering if anyone has added some detailed enhancements. The Headlight for instance is just a solid casting. Any options for that to be replaced? All other sggestions welcomed.
thanks

There is a guy in Auckland, NZ who has one styled on a SAR one. Attached are some early photos of his. He got it as a kit and built it up himself.

The Fowler headlamp can easily be drilled out and LED's fitted

I love what you have done to your Fowler Tony, almost makes me wish I bought the second hand one I saw the other day!
New cab, tender and smokebox?

Thanks, but it is not mine. However, it does belong to a well-known member of this forum. It is actually coal-fired, but that does not make much difference to the appearance.
The tender is the standard Roundhouse body and unmodified except for the coal space and water tank needed for coal firing.
The smokebox is the standard Roundhouse cast brass item, retaining the tapered Fowler chimney but with a Lady Anne (and many others) type door rather than the Fowler door with its four dog catches (not common in the UK).
The bottom half of the standard Roundhouse cab is used with some modification, but the upper half and roof are all new.
The biggest changes are perhaps the lack of sand domes and associated pipework, the addition of the footplating either side of the boiler and the front and rear full-width buffer beams.
