RWM Steam De Winton

Hi Folks
I have to admit that I have not always been a fan of the PPS De Winton design and when Roy Wood bought the design to re-launch, I did mumble a bit. But on Saturday, we spent a very pleasant morning filming his test loco which featured some key improvements and now I am totally converted. We ran it as 16mm for which it is a pretty large VB loco, and also as 7/8ths, by changing driver and stock.

It is seriously quirky and great fun - as hopefully you will see from this little video:

And for those who don't like videos, here are some photos.

Cheers
Chris

That runs very nicely, and has a lot of character. See, I 'm not totally biased against wobblers! Shame it couldn't have a crank axle and the cylinders thus 'inboard' which would hide them a bit more, but of course that would push the price way beyond it's target area. Nice video too ! ;)

In a word: gorgeous!
If it had say a Baldwin Steam Tram body with the skirts that are designed to stop the motion scaring horses then the oscilating cylinders would be hidden.....

Thanks Neil - that is praise indeed! You are right that a crank axle would be nice and I have spent lots of time since Roy took on the project thinking of modifications and enhancements. The simple fact though, was that when we ran it, it just made me smile :)
I should have loved to bring it home - but there are other locos ahead of it in the queue - and I might have had to fight Roy for it :D

Thanks Trev - and yes, there are lots of body options for this nicely engineered loco - and we wouldn't want to scare the horses:)
Cheers

Just came across this video whilst catching up on past posts. I was most impressed with the locomotive and the Summerlands Chuffer . What a combination, simply perfect. I'm a sucker for vertical boiler locomotives and this example is one of the best that I have seen. Great video.
