Hi Folks,

Thought you might like to see our Roundhouse Sandy River 2-6-2 in full steam around the garden. It was cold but nice and sunny this week so just right for those steamy Winter photos. She also sounded fantastic fitted with her superb Summerlands Chuffer - well done Chris!

Thanks Dan. We are very lucky to have such a lovely garden and the time to play trains now we are retired. It's such fun making these little videos so it's great when folks enjoy watching and make nice comments.

Great video lovely steam effects in the cold must get my steamers out but just need to clear the line first .

A handsome loco indeed , thanks for sharing your lovely film .

Hi Richie, Thanks for the post and glad you liked the video. It's great fun filming our live steamers in the cold. It was 4C the day we filmed this. We had to spend ages clearing the line from leaves and apples before we filmed this. All part of the fun!

Hi Garry, Thanks for the post and your great comment. Roundhouse certainly know how to make a superb live steamer and Sandy River is one of their very best. She is a joy to film, especially in the cold and with bright Winter sunlight. She's a delight to run as well. We are very lucky to have her!

Nicely done film. ;)

Hard to tell over the music!!!

Just so Sir. Sorry to spoil the sound of Chris's superb Summerlands chuffer so we shall have to forget the music next time. Thanks for the feedback.

That was fun to watch! With that music it was like the start to some old, epic American movie. If you turn the music volume down, or move the crescendos to a later time, after the loco has passed, perhaps we can have your cake and eat it. ;)

Thanks for taking it on board.
I later thought you may be offended.
Hi Rob, Thanks to you as well for getting back. Of course I'm not offended. I'm sure lots of folks don't like us mixing music with the sounds of our Roundhouse locos. Some of the first videos we made didn't have music on at all but one thing led to another and now most of our viewers, particularly the younger ones, expect it from a Pine Tree Junction video. We shall definitely have to make a future video with just the sounds of our live steam locos as I am sure folks would like it, especially Chris! You take care now.

Hi, Thanks for the post and glad you liked our little video. I am certainly a big fan of those fantastic Western films I went to see at the Cinema in the 1950s and 1960s and remember the brilliant music that is still so popular today. I must remember to turn the volume down when I make the next video as Rob is quite right about not everyone liking music with their steam locos. Anyway, thanks for the comment and I'm sure it won't be long before I post another Pine Tree Junction video on this fantastic forum, next time with the volume turned down! :)

That is a nice looking steamer. Always liked the look of that one. Nice video.
Hi Shawn, Thanks for the post and glad you liked the video. Sandy River is a brilliant Roundhouse loco and is a joy to run and film. It was great fun to go to the factory and see where she was made and meet the engineers that designed, built and tested her. I think ours was the only Sandy River from her batch to stay in the UK as the others all went overseas. Roundhouse are a fantastic company to buy from and we have five superb Roundhouse locos in our Pine Tree Junction engine shed. I wonder which one will be next!

Another great video, great loco and great production :)
Hi, Thanks for the brilliant comment and so glad you liked the video. Sandy River is indeed a great loco and a joy to run and film. She takes some lifting onto the tracks as she is really, really heavy. We tend to prepare her first and then top her up with gas, oil and hot water as we go along. She sticks to the tracks like glue and will just fly around all our tight turns and steep inclines on our up and down mountain railway. All part of the fun!
