Hello everyone.. I thought I would share a neat and cheap way i made some IMG_20180305_171305387.jpg IMG_20180305_191143036.jpg IMG_20180305_191155638.jpg IMG_20180305_191215990.jpg IMG_20180305_171518386.jpg lights using suction cups for the globe. I couldn't find another thread on this and if there is I'm sorry to go over it again. And I painted them with several coats of paint so we will see how long they last outdoors..IMG_20180305_165153621.jpg

What a great idea, so simple, I wonder why no one has thought of it before.

Very nice - and they will be more durable than my attempt a year or two back. I was looking for something to represent lamp shades for inside my depot. I found something that would do (the heads off fixing nails for corrugated metal sheeting).

Little did I count on nature telling me I'd got it wrong! The LED tails were unsheathed and rusted through - most lamps ended up on the depot floor! Doh!:banghead:

Your LED assemblies with insulated tails will outlive my efforts.

I saw one of the suction cups in a drawer the other day and thought wow it's shaped perfect lol.

You've got the ability to think outside the box! I must say that I got the inspiration from Mike (Beavercreek) - he has some fantastic lighted buildings!

Lots of interesting ideas for Lamps here, looking at the original ones by Jack I think an initial coat of Matt Grey then undercoat Matt Black should be pretty good protection against Solar effects. Have found this out on an Electrical Box that was in clear plastic. One was painted Matt Black to disguise it in the Garden, this one is still fine the other in a sunny location in the shed unpainted it trashed being so weak that it can barely be toiched.

Also to fixing for corrugated plastic roofing, it seems the possibilities are boundless once the thought process has been activated.

I thought Drew Pritchard was the man to supply green industrial lighting fixtures???

(Sorry, but I do enjoy watching Salvage Hunter here in the UK)

Thanks. I was hoping they will last a while. The first one I spray painted and the paint wouldn't dry on the rubber. But several coats of acrylic paint stuck good.

Brilliant !!!!! Watch out, things with suction cups. You may not be able to hold on much longer.....

Lol I know I have already went around and rounded them all up. Even got my mother on the hunt for them at the thrift store. She has found me a bunch of newbright toy trains for a couple bucks and the rolling stock is pretty nice with some weathering put on them. I did notice on the smaller suction cups some where a little out of shape but I guess it just looks like they are old and bent.IMG_20180305_144533628.jpg IMG_20180305_174743300_TOP.jpg

Here is a lgb light that is almost identical to mine on eBay for 14.99 . I have about 1.50 a piece in mine. I can live with that lolScreenshot_20180302-081055.png

Brilliant piece of inspirational modelling there. You do realise that you've probably savedba lot of people a lot of dish don't you! And caused a lot to go "why didn't etc etc:clap::clap::clap::clap:
