Mayflowers are a superb looking Locomotive, they look just right in spite of being a thought up job of Mr Merlin.
 
I wanna say they were one of last projects that Ian Pearse worked on for Merlin before his departure from the company. Either way, they found the right mix of everything on the Mayflower. I find it fun to ponder what could have been. Roundhouse was in it infancy at this time. Merlin could have become what Roundhouse is today, had it not been for dodgy quality on most other models and some poor business practices. Had the owner(s) had the business practices of Roundhouse, The steam scene could have had a different big player today.
