Smokebox paint??

On my continuing project to make Mortimer look at little more realistic, I've decided I want to paint the cab roof, running boards and smoke box. Done the roof and will do the sides in Halfords satin black, but what should i use on the smoke box?
I've got some Platicoat matt black bbq paint which is good for 425degrees - any reason this wouldn't work, or is there something better I could use?

I've used this stuff on smokeboxes with no probs. Heat it up after application and will come up with a nice finish.

Ok cool. Looks like thats tomorrows project. Heat it up, as in place in it a low heat oven as soon as i've painted it?

I've used plasticote BBQ paint om my smokeboxes
flash dry with a hot air gun then bake in the oven at 100 deg C for an hour

What they have not said is, do it when SWMBO is out, the authorities seem to get up set when they discover what you are using THEIR oven for.

plastikote is fine, make sure you coat it thinly with many layers rather than spray at it for several seconds so it doesn't run, stick a fan heater blowing at it inbetween coats when its nicely coated bake it as already suggested.
