Has anyone tried the Henglong R/C tank smoke units?Videos look good and price cheap.

Hi David
I have 3 of the Henglong R/C tanks, the noisy smoke units are really good while they work
but they (noisythings) tend not to last very long, thats if the (noisy things) work at all from new.
Oh and did i mention they are very noisy. :bleh:
The best comparison i can come up with is the LGB track cleaning LOCO for noise,
just bought one, wow, no one mentioned the noise,
made the girls run away and start howling,
exactly the same as they do if i start the smoke units on the Henlong tanks

The actual smoke unit is fine though, especially the more recent models, its the pump unit in them that tends to be very noisy and packs in first.

Thanks for that,am I right in thinking that the non=proportional smoker does not have the pump?
David

Hi David

The non-proportional one is the last one i bought as a replacement (mainly because it was cheaper), for a unit that had actually lasted for about 20hours use before it died, which is very good (in my experience).

But unfortunately the replacement did not work, so have returned it am still waiting for a replacement.

As far as i am aware they both have pumps, as the smoke has to come out of the exhausts, and unlike trains there is very little air flow to help it down the tubes.
The proportional part refers to the type of control board in the tank (i think)

(See below stock pics of the two types).

To be honest they are not (in my personal opinion) that good at all, and the life expectancy is very short.

I have spent many hours following threads on other forums and on the whole the consensus, of these seem to be towards major mods to make them work well and give any form of longevity.

Link below shows the sort of threads i have been following over the years.

Note:- to Mods
I am not sure if this breaches any copy rights etc ???
if it does apologies in advance and please delete
David if it is deleted i will pm you a copy of the link (and any body else who is interested)
