SOLD: LGB 26841 Saxon Meyer IVK with pulsed smoke and sound £450 plus P&P

Sold for 450.00 GBP - Out of Stock
Another loco for sale that I love and is well used, but not enough room on my indoor layout. This version of the ubiquitous Saxon IVK is the one that runs at the Schönheide Railroad Museum, number 99 516. It's no longer available new and not often secondhand. New models of the Saxon IVK with sound and pulsed smoke are available, like the LGB 26845 for 900 € RRP. Details of the model for sale here: Class 99.51 Steam Locomotive | Märklin

I bought it new several years ago, so only one careful owner! It has only been used indoors. The factory model comes as DCC ready (10 pin) with a basic smoke decoder and directional lights. I fitted a Massoth XL decoder and a Massoth DCC Pulsed Smoke Generator, along with a PIKO sound card and speaker from a BR80(!). This latter was meant to be a temporary measure but I never got around to replacing it! You can see how I did this in an old thread, which also includes a short YouTube video clip.
How to fit a Massoth Pulsed Smoke Generator into LGB 26841 0-4-4-0T Meyer - G Scale Central

The model is in very good condition apart from a crack in a cylinder under the frame (air brake cylinder?) and one of the screws fastening the body to the frame won't stay put (see one of the pictures). I guess I must have overtightened the screw at some point, or got the threads crossed. Originally I had the pulsed smoke generator feeding both the chimney and two cylinder outlets (as in video above) but since then I have removed the cylnder feeds and have all the smoke output going to the chimney which is much better IMO. The smoke generator adaptor and tubing I removed is included should you wish to replace it. You can see this in the second of the three video clips below. The first one shows the loco running "silent" and the last one is a run through of the basic sounds on the PIKO (rebadged Uhlenbrock IS3) sound card. The sound and smoke generator could really do with wheel synch, another roundtoit.

I always planned to replace the XL with an XLS, so with this in mind I am willing to strip out the XL, sound module and speaker I have fitted, for example, if someone wants to do a better job of adding sound, or are not interested in pulsed smoke generation. This would come with a reduction in price, say £350 for loco as factory shipped with no sound or pulsed smoke, or £400 for loco with pulsed smoke generator.

The box is in very good condition, and included with the loco are the driver figure (never fitted), coupling hooks, original smoke generator and 10-pin interface blanking plug, instructions for the loco, sound module and smoke generator, plus some of my notes from upgrading the loco. Also included is the weight from the front of the loco, which was removed to make way for the smoke generator.

As usual, PM me ("conversation" not "chat") if interested. I think this is the last of my "sale spree".
