This was a well-intentioned but ultimately unwanted gift. I fitted the decoder and tested it on DC and DCC and it is fully working, but it is not for me. The loco and box are in excellent condition as it has only been run a few times on my indoor layout.
Please note that as stated in many forums including this one, although it will run on R1 curves and points it does not run very well over these curves. This is mainly due to the extended shaft drive (there is a motor in the middle driving both wheel sets) which is under some strain on these tight curves, and the strange pick-up shoes that have a flange running on the inside of the track to keep the wheels aligned. I'm sure it would be fine on R5 or even R3 curves but I would not recommend it if you intend to run it on R1 curves.
The decoder has all default settings except I turned off Back EMF and set the min and max speeds to something more realistic. There are directional lights, and the lights are red or white according to direction. No internal lights but these can be retrofitted, as can sound. The decoder has a SUSI socket and there is a space for a 50mm Visaton speaker. Comes in original box with all manuals etc.
