This is the Prototype I have been working from the were built from timber just after the second world war when steel supplies were limited.DSC_1169.JPG

The model is 3D printed which is usual for me Had to make my own wheels as I could'nt get anything to fit it runs really smooth.DSC_1171.JPG

Excellent modelling. Looking at the prototype, it looks like the SAR deemed the car a goods waggon with those Bettendorf trucks. It must have been a harsh ride.

That is VERY impressive! What a shame you don't live a bit nearer - I have a bunch of projects on the go right now where I'm having to fabricate bits from larger bits due to the total lack of a decent model store anywhere near us.

I'm currently building a copy of the Accucraft L&B gondola, having found that a second-hand one at the last show was the same price as a new one at the same show....grrrrrrrrr.

I'll start a thread if anybody is interested.

Yes the spoked wheel version was smoother than the solid wheeled version I hate to think how rough that would have been:eek:

What lovely delicate spoked wheels! No wonder you couldn't find any available retail. I was successful in buying some lovely spoked wheels for 1:33.8 / 9 mm scale trams from what is now Berg's, but was then 0 Aust. Trains. Beautiful tyres and hard plastic mounded spokes and centres.
