Spare Part for Lil' Critter Diesel

I bought a Lil' Critter diesel on Ebay about a year ago. It was delivered to the previous owner in 1998 and hadnt been out of the box. A lovely loco with Track Maintenance livery.
I now find that a hand rail stauntion is missing. Don't know how that happened (grand kids!). I have the parts listed from 1998 and it is priced at $1.

Has anyone any experience of Aristocraft loco spares from the USA? Is there a dealer in the UK? Any tips/hints/advice would be most welcome.

I tried to attach a photo of my loco but couldnt. I tried (twice) to download a software called pixresizer without success. I assume there is some thread on this forum to explain how to attach photos.

Kind regards,

Dave

Try Bachmann UK - they import Aristo stuff into the UK.

Hi Nick,

Tried Bachmann UK following your post - they replied very quickly and referred me to Aristocraft.com. Bachmann do not staock any Aristocraft parts according to their reply. The part I want is still $1 but shipping costs are $15!!!!!!

Kind regards,

Dave

Well, Bachmann's web site http://www.bachmann.co.uk/prod1.php?prod_selected=aristo&prod=15 indicates they do carry some parts - mainly spares for mechanisms and other stuff by the look of it -, but probably not bodywork bits and pieces I guess. Oh well, worth a try. At least they responded.

Many thanks for all the helpful replies - as ever very much appreciated.
A particular thanks to 55.5 who offered to canabilise some of his old loco.
I emailed Aristocraft in the UK about the spare part which was only $1 but $15 shipping. I got a very quick reply asking for my address and offering to send the part to my address - no charge! I will wait and see if it arrives but on the face of it very good customer service and a good result. I must admit, with a few exceptions, I have had very good service from G scale dealers in the UK. When you receive good customer service in the UK it is normally a "WOW reaction, because in my view customer service is not that good. But again my experience of G scale customer service in the main has been good.

I will let you know if the part arrives.

Kind regards,

Dave

Good for you Dave. Another G scaler in Australia needed some Aristo handrails for an RS-3. He had an extremely difficult time getting a response from them. I offered to do the leg work for him. It took months, and alot of emails, for Aristo to get the parts to me. I then sent them on to OZ. They were not inexpensive either.

Hi All,

Well the spare part arrived from the USA two weeks later as they promised. In fact they enclosed not one rail stauntion but 4!. The cost of postage was in excess of $4 and all this was free to me.

Well done Aristocraft on your customer service - and all this for a loco that was manufactured in 1998!

It has renewed my faith in customer service in the States (well until the next time I have a problem.)

Kind regards,

Dave

I had a stripped motor gear on an Aristo loco and they replaced the whole motor with gear, FOC from the States. IMO excellent service, onec you track down who you need to be dealing with.
