Stainz LED headlamp socket?

I'm trying to track down the socket, OEM or replacement, that I've seen on some threads to add an LED to a Stainz front/rear headlight. When I've tried seraching the forum, my criteria seem to be way too broad or way too narrow. Can anyone remember this socket? Thanks,

Thanks for your response. I'm looking for a socket rather than a bulb. As I thought about it, I remembered ge_rik had posted some Stainz battery conversions on his Peckforton blog. I found this photo: Lamp socket.JPG

I can't find a US dealer that sells the socket separately, but am hoping there is a generic part that I can buy. I'll probably have to buy 100-500 if my past parts purchases are any guide.

Not sure how these things would be sized, but I expect 3-3.5mm between holes judging by the push in LGB bulb I just measured. This will work just fine for LED’s.

I think the Stainz I converted was an early version which used grain of wheat bulbs rather than the screw-in type so that socket was as supplied with the loco. All I ha d to do was extract the grain of wheat bulbs and replace it with a 3mm warm white LED. You'll also see that I had to replace the resistors on the circuit board with those of a value suited to the 12v battery supply - How I converted an LGB Stainz loco to battery power - Version 2

This sort of socket would do the job (female two pin). But if you're going to solder this in place, you could just as easily solder the LED leads directly on to the lamp wires without the socket.

You can also buy LED E5 bulbs. These are screwed into the existing sockets. They are also fitted with
provided with resistors for LGB standards

My assumption is that these are what you are after:

Used with these lamp below (and others), but as you can see will work very well with 3 mm LED (just chop the legs ;))

Bad news is I can't remember where I got them from but they are either LGB, Massoth or Champex-Linden but are a genuine replacement item.

Hope this gives you a starting point.

Good catch! I checked their website under Lanterns / Headlamps and Light Bulbs / Light Strips but missed this one. Thanks!
