Had a day out at Statfold Barn today for their "Spectacle of Steam" event. There must have been around 10 locos in steam. Some double heading, both passenger and goods. Not all 2' gauge. Some familiar items some not so, Statfold is now the home for the late Adrian Shooter's Darjeeling B class loco and Boston Lodge built replica coaches. They also have a scenicaly routed 12" gauge line. It never ceases to amaze me how imaginatively thid site has been mapped to give the greatest value with extensive track work, scenery and a packed museum. Good catering and plenty of "side shows" add go.the experience.

I've been hearing about this place for years, I must try and convince the Missus that a trip up to Tamworth may be a good idea!

A superb sits that is definitely a must go to location. Every time I have been there is a rusting hulk that needs a lit of TLC, in front of that Quarry Hunslet type is a super black American iRyam Sugar 1, on one of my visits it was in an extremely dilapidated state with a cut off tree passing through some of its anatomy.

You won't regret it.

It is now a little more commercial, as it is a self-supporting trust.
But the amount of 'stuff' there is mind-boggling.

Definitely worth a trip!

Mizzy and I stayed at the site in our little caravan, Dinky Winky. They have electric hook up, and an ablutions block close by....
