Station building for £5.50

I noticed when reading about Andrew Cox's railway in the August 2009 edition of 16mm Today that he had converted a Playskool Koala Brothers' Homestead toy into a passable station building. I decided to have a go myself.

I bought one secondhand on eBay for £5.50:

and 'bashed' it into something which I think is a little more light railway-like.

It looks a bit clunky and still needs a bit of fine detailing (eg an interior and some paraphernalia) but for £5.50 I think it does the job quite nicely.

As usual, I've put a more detailed step-by-step account on my blog for those who might be interested.

That's superb Rik. Very impressive and thanks for the details in your blog. Great idea and very well executed.

Thanks for the kindly words, chaps.

The main idea was pinched from someone else, but the ticket office window was one of those - 'Now what can I do with that odd looking window and window box?' puzzles. I may get around to constructing a small canopy over it before I plant it out in the Spring.

Given the origin of the TV series on which it is based, it should suit your local environment.

Subtle, very subtle, well done Rik

Great adaption, I will be doing the same, although it will be more expensive here in Oz.

Very nice bash:thumbup: I bet if you put that back on E bay now you would get 5 x what you paid
