One of my favourite Moths!! If you check out this page http://ukmoths.org.uk/systematic.php#Pterophorinae < Link To http://ukmoths.org.uk/sys...hp#Pterophorinae
and scroll down to Pterophoridae you should come to a myriad of these fab moths, weird and wonderful they are too. We have run moth traps using Mercury Vapour lamps (they attract the moths to the trap which contains egg boxes for them to roost in till you sort them out and let 'em go!) in our garden over the years and its amazing the stuff you find in a morning, all this stuff goes on in your garden at night and you hardly ever see it!
At the back of our works is a strip of land that we let all the weeds grow as they like.
Last year we had quite a few Elephant Hawk Moth larvae on the Rosebay and we had
a few Humming Bird Moths at the Buddleia as well.
There are lots of others that I have'nt identified.
