The new Hamburg Tram and trailer by LGB never existed :Looser: Hamburg Tramways always used trolley poles, NOT bow collectors!! Also (see last photo) the early trams had this paint style. But you can re-badge!!! Alyn

You are quick, I just learned of this new offering for 2011 last night , and thought I might like the 23360 , since I never had picked up a LGB 4 wheel streetcar , and here this AM I read your post , photos and information regarding the real tram line .
Thank you

I didnt know about it at all! Can you supply a link to anyone who may be stocking them, and just how expensive it will be please.

Very nice, will go perfectly with my LGB Tram Collection. But 529 Euro's. They are having a larfe aint they?

purely speculative on my part
but

as i understand things, old LGB had the pantographs made by a mentally disabled association-

ill bet these are no longer in the works-i imagine they are costly
on close inspection they are actually rather amazing pieces-intricate and multiple parts

and there may also be other hurdles to having them

then again they may simply have a bunch of bows left over !

ill bet red and white sell rather well

these are ancient tech-wish they would at least have constant lighting or 5v

Looking closely at the pictures in the catalogue there are a few differences from the last trailer that LGB produced.

The trailer has the power plugs reinstated & a connector cable supplied.
Both the tram & trailer appear to have internal lights, there are also head lights on the trailer!
Looking closely underneath the trailer do I see metal wheels.

I wonder what will actually be produced.

did you notice the panes on the end windows-these never were on LGB
and its decoder equipped so it will have nice lights

Re:The New Hamburg Tram & Trailer by LGB

I'm not that much of a tram fan but I must admit I like the look of the new Aristo-Craft ones especially the Pittsburgh one

Yes, in Switzerland.

The other issue is oil (and plastic resin and paint material) costs have gone up exponentially in the last couple months.

course all trams used to have the cable between them when sold as a sets. interesting about the metal wheels lets hope they havent raided the parts bin for the model. Thought the panto's were made by summerfelt? ( sorry about the spelling) Thnk they cost as much as they do as they have quite a few parts involved and are the only tram on the market.

The pantographs are made by Sommerfeldt. On all LGB trams there are (power/lighting) sockets for connecting trams together;- the later model inc Marklin/LGB versions have the connector behind a black cover. Bow collectors and pantographs were NOT fitted to Hamburg trams they had trolley poles so one would have to fit a Bachmann trolley pole.
Also the new tram has a traction tyre fitted so I suspect LGB are using the same power block (keeps costs down) as the Stainz etc (older versions inc the current cream offering has NO traction tyre.) The tram has no DCC chip fitted. Alyn

The current cream trailer has no internal lighting & blanking plugs in place of the connecting sockets. No doubt to increase profit, it wasn't to reduce the price.

There are mutterings about the high price of the Hamburg tram but the asking price of the Beige tram & the "economy" trailer was over £500.

Hi Mike, mine have!!! On the LGB trailer, the red led is missing off the pcb ,but the socket and wiring are there. I have the last of the LGB 2006 run with red pantograph, and also the current cream Hungarian Marklin version with bow collector. Pic of different boxes. Alyn

Tram 32 is a LGB trailer converted to a tram. Marklin trailer behind.
Tram 28 is a Marklin tram.
Tram 30 a LGB tram.

As I've now fitted my Bachmann tram with a diamond panto that I brought from Philbahn, I have a trolley pole going spare FOC if anyone would like it....

I have both the LGB trailer & the Marklin one & they are both empty, no plug, no LED, not even any wire. Just a plastic bung like your No 32.

Mike, Have you anything behind the bung? Alyn

There's usually some ulterior motive behind a bung! :rolf:

I suppose the obvious answer is a hole. I can confirm the ends were empty as I have now fitted a socket at one end, LED at the other & internal lighting in the saloon.
I would imagine that LGB were trying to cut costs & the removal of everything associated with the wiring made things cheaper. There may have been complications with the MTS decoder as well.
The bung looks like the bit used to block up the hole in the No3 Stainz (ex train set) when the socket was omitted.
