Just finished building a couple of battery powered IP Engineering kits which were "winter projects" that can finally see some use now that "Spring" actually appears to have arrived!

First up is a small railcar that for some strange reason they market as a "trolleybus" kit.
However, you don't get anything resembling one of these..........

but rather a nice little 4-seat p.w. inspection type railcar like this.......

I've built it more or less as the provided parts, but have added a few extra detailing items and replaced the front headlight with a horn. The passengers are Star Trek figures from the fairly recent film version of the series which were obtained from Poundland in the past year (hence the thread title..)
Mr Spock seems to enjoying himself, but I'm not sure what the Vulcan for "My Lords!" would be.............

The vehicle awaits fleetnames and a suitable running number, such as NCC 1701 !

The second project was one of their "Fennor" locos which has had some extra detailing added to it

Iam planning to use these items mainly on the branch line that extends off my main running circuit which can be operated seperately from the rest of the set-up. One of the IP Engineering battery chassis kits awaits my next project - a Hunslet diesel tramway loco - but that will be for next winters building season........

Its lovely but more of a Shopping Trolley....And with no doors looks like they have to "Klingon" bends....sorry enough of that ........I take it has a little motor and batteries?
Motor mounted vertically in the "passenger saloon" - such that it is - just behind the front dash panel and concealed under an "engine compartment" with a control panel on top of it. Gives direct drive onto the front axle.
Powered by 2 AAA batteries held in a battery box that is fitted to the underframe between the two axles.

Be a bit careful not to put too much weight behind the Fennor, the transmission system isn't all that rugged and if it is allowed to stall too often the worm and the cog will develop play that is difficult to correct (don't ask how I know........). That apart they are good little locos for puttering around with a couple of small trucks in tow.

The Fennor manages about 3-4 HLW 4-wheel wagons OK on my layout, or two of the IP 4-wheel coach kits. Certainly wouldn't want to tax it with anything more than that.
The "Trolleybus" does have a facility to tow stock behind it, but I wouldn't risk it doing that - apart from the fact it doesn't seem to have the power available anyway. It's quite happy crawling round on its own at a sensible slow speed.
