Has anyone on here actually tried one of these, being sold by Modell-Land at what seems quite a good price:

It's the circuit board that (I think) TL45 use in their starter-set V3 diesel, and from the specs it appears to be suitable for both track power and battery (I'd assume that a battery pack would have to be of 14.4 volt minimum to run it properly?).
Wondering what they were like, if they give a decent level of control? Would it be any better than, say, nicking the control gear from a new-type Playmobil diesel?
Also, could a simple analogue sound unit (just for motor noise or steam chuff) be operated by connecting it in parallel across the motor control outputs from the board?
Just idly musing at the moment.....
