I just got a used 2 cyl accucraft shay. It is an early edition of it. Runs great, however, when it is time to refuel and steam up I have a hard time getting it to ignite. My only experience is with a 2 month old plantation which fires up without any problems. I did pull the jet on the shay and make sure it was clear. HELP

It is a problem on these locos (and some other Accucraft as well). The gas control is a little 'crude' and it is hard to 'dial it back' so there is just enough gas to ignite but enough to do the heat.
The Accucraft shays can 'roar' if the gas is too high and at this setting they can be hard to reignite.
A collar for the burner is a very good idea to get (Accucraft do them). This allows the gas control to be used a little more intuitively as the air supply is lessened.

After a run, while it is hot and has been topped up, just turn the gas very slightly and wait for a couple of seconds, then light her up. She should behave herself fine!
