I found it appropriate to snag the 150th German Railway Jubilee engine almost to the day of the 175th German Railway Anniversary jubilee celebrations that took place in der Fatherland...

The little puffer didn't come with a Engineer, so I glued one in. Also, I tapped the back lighting plug contacts and installed my own Cab interior lighting.

thanks to John at Train Crossing, the best California train shop, I picked up my first KOF engine for $50...

This is the cheapy no lights version, and no one is currently at the throttle as you can see. However, this version has 3 red colored lens caps on the back, and John says
it could be a very old version because of the red lenses.?? Regardless, I love him, and I am very fascinated by the diesel hydraulic designs of Austrian and German narrow gauge. I think this is the first of many KOF purchases!!

Your KOeF is a post 1988 version, the early ones had red bodies.

hey gang!

yes he does look just like the KOF in my first-ever LGB Lehmann Catalog: the 1988 Large Format catalog that has always been my favorite of all the catalogs, however great the others are to look at.

He has no power tap sockets...not much a problem, as i can unhinge his britches and attach wires to the left/right motorblock contacts and then have them trail out his rear end. He pulls great just as -is, lots of people always want to add weight to him, I probably will it would be so easy with this buddy.
He looks really sharp at the point of my newly kitbashed high-side reko-wagen (another project besides my operations yard that is coming along nicely and will be highlighted soon in pix).

LinzStadt...the 150th Loco can still be had on ebay just keep looking, there is another for sale right now and he is selling it with one of the 150th red coaches, no reserve i think. Although you might be referring to my Red Snout? although i dont know if Red or Silver is the more rare snout...the damn Stainz runs like a Swiss Watch! Excellent performance out of the box and that LGB "secret solution" gear-goo from the Factory that was applied 25 years ago is all it needs to run like it has a hydraulic drive.

Cheers!

Tom M.

Many of the 150 year sets were dumped in the US, the coaches were red with green/gold trim, so they were re-sold as Christmas sets.

hey in case you didn't see my other thread in "kitbashing"

i have a rolling gantry crane now functional....it was made from a tonka truck (i ripped the crane off the back of the 1/16th scale behemoth) then i basically put it on legs and took 4 LGB bogies and now it rolls down my yard parallel tracks. (to make a long story long...)

well i have to do a photo shoot tonight of the whole seen with my new Yellow KOF pushing and pulling the crane!!
