USA trains SD70 question

Does anyone know if a USA trains SD70 fitted with hook and loop couplings will go around 8ft diameter curves without pulling the first wagon off the track?

Know the manufactures website quotes the minimum diameter is 8ft but been caught before where although the loco will go round it won't successfully pull anything round.

Most likely it will.
I have the SD40s and they will do it on 10foot diameter with h&ls.
To stop it happening I put a heavy load in the first cars.

Well.....it really depends on what the first car is like. As Spike says a well weighted one does really help but how the coupler is mounted on the following car also affects how it all goes.
If it is a swivelling type of coupler that is mounted on the bogie then everything should be hunky dory but if it is rigid then it might work, but then it might not every time that the curve is navigated. It will look a bit weird though as the over hang on 8ft is pretty large!

I use knuckles and keep to 12 foot diameter so I can't comment on how well it will work. I can say that I always run a USA Trains wagon behind my SD70 as these are less likely to be thrown off than Bachmann Wagons
