I'm finally getting around to putting some track down on the layout. I've got quite a few meters of flexi track to get into the right shape.
I attempted using the infamous belly-bend technique with distinctly mediocre results - awkward straight bits and inconsistent curves. Didn't really have the effect I was hoping for.

Does anyone on the forum have a rail bender they would be willing lend for a few weeks (naturally, I will cover postage both ways) or, failing that have one for sale?

Best,

Curtis

I was hoping to see a reply here, although I'm presently using individual rails, when I start laying track in the garden I'll need a means to pre-curve flexi track.

I've posted my rail bender to Curtis in Jersey, so hopefully, we will hear how he is getting on soon....

Hope you don't have to pay import duty on its way back.

I didn't have to pay export duty on the way out but I did have to declare it.

I guess Curtis will have to do likewise when it comes back....

As Gizzy Gizzy said, he very kindly offered to lend me his rail bender. It arrived on Monday and has already been put to good use. Incredibly simple but effective tool - I've been really impressed with the results.

JimmyB JimmyB , declaration only. For items arriving in Jersey over £90 in value there is a 5% tax (GST) applied. Returning to the UK shouldn't be a problem either but if there are any fees due I'll naturally cover them - still cheaper than buying one!

For goods between Jersey and the UK you'll pay VAT on purchased items but I've noticed the application by the courier is inconsistent. I should be able to mark this as an exception as the item was always Gizzy's (just on loan).

I also want to highlight Mike offered to lend me his rail bender too but I had already started chatting to Gizzy. Just goes to show what a stellar community this is.

Sorry for the confusion - it's a single rail bender. From what Gizzy Gizzy said, I believe it's homemade (?) but he'll be able to confirm.
Yes it's a single rail bender that I brought at a Model Railway Exhibition held in Bassingbourne by the Royston MRC.

It was in their second hand sales for either a fiver or a tenner. I think it might be a home made bit of kit as the steel plate is a little rusty, but it is simple to use and works well. Perhaps Curtis can post a photo of it in use....

Not wishing to butt in - this is my single rail bender. I bought it a few years ago and the seller thought it was marketed by Aristocraft. I can't find any branding on it. I mounted it on a short plank to give me some leverage when cranking the handle gets a bit tough.

Mine is a bit more 'agricultural' than this posh bit of kit....
