Water tank car

Had this European tank car and it just didn't look right with the American scene so I made my lumber company an stubby tank car, added American 4 wheel trucks, ladders from kids play train, the brackets that hold to hose up are shortened sanding tubes off old 2010 Stanz, cat walk expanded steel is scrubby glued to styrene strip, tank hose is para cord from sewing dept. at Wal-Mart to simulate canvas hose and the fittings are old brass ones I had laying around. Cat walk on the top of the tank is styrene scraped with a hobby saw to give grained look. The lettering on the side of the tank is to let the workers know it for water and not oil, LOL. Fun build

Very nice...
Older LGB tank cars were manufactured, and advertised for their liquid carrying capabilities. They had valves on them to turn the flow off or on. It was to add "Play-value" to the "Toys". I seem to think that they don't have that feature these days.

Remember being at a friends house with is 5 year old running train in the living. Room with 1 of these tank cars, full of water, and with valve turned on. Said he we ted to see how long it took for the water to run out. Round and round it went leaking water the whole time. What a mess, think it took about a week for the carpet to dry. LOL

Great model of an old but worthy car with real atmosphere of gentle decay about it. Bit like me, really.
